N.P. Kort, MD, PhD
Nanne Kort was born on July 16, 1969 in Curacao, Dutch Antilles. After finishing high school he left Curacao for the Netherlands. He studied medicine at Utrecht University. Afterwards he did his regular internships in his island of birth, ‘dushi Korsow’, via the University of Groningen. In November 1994 he obtained the Doctor’s title in Curacao.
Dr. Kort began his career in Curacao as assistant orthopaedist, continuing this position in 1996 at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam with Prof. R.K. Marti. In 1997 he started preparatory studies in Surgery at the Stichting Deventer Ziekenhuizen in Deventer under the guidance of Dr. M. Eeftinck Schattenkerk. He spent the 6-month waiting time between the Orthopaedic training and the Surgery period as assistant orthopaedist in Deventer under the supervision of Dr. A.P.P.M. Driessen. He did the first and last six months of the program at University Medical Center Groningen under the guidance of Prof . J.R. van Horn, and the three non-academic years at the Martini Hospital in Groningen under the guidance of Dr. R. Deutman and Dr. J.J.A.M. van Raay. It was there that the basis was established for this thesis.
In January 2004, Nanne Kort registered as a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery. Since then he has worked at the Maasland Hospital in Sittard in an orthopaedic partnership with his colleagues Frits Draijer, Hans van Os, Pieter Tilman and Aart Verburg.
The author is married to Mascha van der Meijden. They have three sons: Tychô, Rèmigio and Guisepp.
